When I first made SCD yogurt I followed a pinterest recipie and simply let it ferment for 24 hours instead of the recommended 9-16. After I had made 2 batches a friend posted the following recipie to facebook and I modified it for SCD! It is very smooth and unbelievabley good!
Homemade yogurt
1 gallon of milk (I use whole organic)
Heat in crockpot until 180 degrees, or until it's bubbly. That takes a couple hours. I used a food thermometer. The one I usually use, broke. I recently ordered the one below.
Take crockpot out of heating element and take the lid off to cool down to 120. That takes about an hour.
Add in a 2 TBSP of plain greek yogurt (store bought or save a 2 TBSP from a previous homemade batch). ...
Put lid back on, cover in towels and put in oven with oven light on for 24 hours.
Use as yogurt, in place of milk in recipies, add honey and/or ginger. Freeze for an ice cream like treat. I have also seen SCD yogurt dipped strawberries as frozen treats in the summer time!
